Brunner, Blackstone & Associates, PC seeks a Senior Accountant - Tax and Assurance in Cranberry Township, PA, responsible for preparing and reviewing complex federal and state tax returns of individuals and businesses which includes preparing sales, payroll, personal property and other tax returns as well as formal and informal financial statements. Specific duties: (i) preparing and reviewing complex multi-state business and individual tax returns; (ii) preparing and reviewing partnership, C and S-corporate tax returns, fiduciary, estate, trust and other tax returns; (iii) preparing amended returns, tax projections, personal property tax returns, employee benefit plan returns, carryback claim returns and payroll tax returns; (iv) utilizing various tax programs and software; (v) preparing balance sheets, income statements, cash flow forecasts and projections; (vi) coordinating day to day “in charge” duties of planning, fieldwork and wrap up in the preparation of financial statements with disclosures applying areas of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); (vii) documenting, validating, testing and assessing various control systems; and (viii) mentoring staff and interns.

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with the ability to sit for the CPA exam (150 hours).

Must have 3 years of experience as a Staff Accountant. Experience must include 3 years of experience (can be concurrent) with each of the following: (i) QuickBooks; and (ii) ProSystem fx Tax. Must also know (from any completed university-level coursework, seminars, workshops, or real-world, hands-on experience): (i) ProSystem fx Document; (iv) CCH Intelliconnect; (v) Caseware for engagement; (vi) checkpoint; and (vii) Peachtree.

We are seeking entry level staff accountants for our growing accounting and tax practice. Job Duties:

• Complete the accounting process for a variety of client types.
• Prepare compiled, reviewed and audited financial statements.
• Prepare various tax returns including individual, partnerships, corporations (C-corporations & S-corporations), deferred compensation and fiduciary returns.
• Prepare balance sheet, income statement and cash flow forecasts and projections.
• Prepare tax projections for individual and business clients

Qualifications:

• B.S. degree in Accounting is required and a desire to complete the hours requirement to sit for the CPA exam
• CPA designation preferred but not required
• Strong computer skills including MS Excel and Word
• Knowledge of QuickBooks and Peachtree  
• Must be well organized and experienced in a paperless environment
• Highly accurate with good attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Team player

Position Summary

Your tax internship will encompass a variety of different things. You will be a welcomed member of our tax department and be included in our firm staff meetings. Your responsibilities may include any of the following:

• Prepare federal, state, and local income tax returns
• Preparation of individual tax returns
• Interpret raw data from client’s files and input into tax software
• Prepare and maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules
• Work with federal government forms in tax system

Upon starting you will receive training from our tax professionals. You will report directly to a tax manager, but will have full access to all levels within the firm.
